Embracing Sacred Moments

WEEK 5

SCRIPTURE

Mark 6:31
Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.

DEVOTIONAL

In Mark 6:31, we see Jesus inviting His disciples to step away from the busyness of ministry and find rest. Even in the midst of urgent needs, Jesus recognized the importance of pausing to recharge. This invitation wasn’t just about physical rest but about spiritual renewal in His presence.
Rest is sacred because it reminds us of our dependence on God. It is in these quiet moments that we can realign our hearts with His will, gain strength for the tasks ahead, and experience His peace. Far from being a luxury, rest is a gift and a necessity that prepares us for what lies ahead.
TAKE A MOMENT TO REFLECT & DISCUSS:
  • How does rest prepare you to face challenges or serve others?
  • What can you do during downtime to be open to God’s presence?
  • How can you, like the disciples, respond to Jesus’ invitation to “come away” with Him?
Here are some ways to make rest meaningful:
1. Set aside time to pray or reflect, inviting God to speak to your heart.
2. Spend time in nature, marveling at God’s creation.
3. Share quiet moments as a family, reading Scripture or listening to worship music.

This week, try to carve out intentional moments of rest, not just to relax but to recharge in God’s presence. Let Him fill you with His peace, guidance, and strength for what’s ahead.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this beautiful day of rest and reflection. We are deeply grateful for the sacred moments You’ve given us over these last few weeks in this Sabbath series—moments to reconnect with You, with one another, and with the peace that only You can provide. We thank You for the lessons of rest, reflection, and freedom that we've learned together as a family. Thank You for this sacred time, and for the lessons it continues to teach us.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
