DEVOTIONAL
In Deuteronomy 5:15, God reminds His people of their deliverance from slavery in Egypt. For generations, the Israelites lived under harsh conditions, forced to work endlessly without rest. When God set them free, He gave them a command that was both a blessing and a symbol of their freedom: to observe the Sabbath.
The Sabbath is not just about physical rest—it’s a declaration of freedom. It’s a reminder that we are no longer slaves, whether to work, worry, or the demands of this world. Through Christ, we live in the freedom of God’s provision, grace, and love.
Yet, in today’s culture, it’s easy to fall back into a kind of slavery to busyness. We work tirelessly, chase goals, and carry the weight of endless responsibilities. The Sabbath invites us to step away from that cycle and rest in God’s presence, trusting Him to meet our needs.

TAKE A MOMENT TO REFLECT & DISCUSS:
- What does it mean to be a slave to work or busyness?
- What can we do during our Sabbath to remind us of the freedom God gives?
- What can you do to make the Sabbath a day of true rest and reflection?
This week, consider how you can embrace the Sabbath as a time to celebrate the freedom God provides. Spend time in worship, let go of the pressure to accomplish, and focus on being present with God and each other.
PRAYER
Loving God,
Thank You for the freedom You have given us. Help us to remember that we are no longer slaves to work or worry. As we rest today, let us experience the fullness of Your liberation and grace. Thank You for setting our hearts free.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
