Slowing Down To Connect

WEEK 2
SCRIPTURE
Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth”.
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth”.
DEVOTIONAL
In a world that seems to move faster every day, it’s easy to get caught up in the rush of life. Work, school, activities, and endless to-do lists often leave little room for stillness. But Psalm 46:10 offers us a gentle yet powerful reminder: "Be still, and know that I am God."
Stillness is not just the absence of activity; it’s the intentional choice to quiet our hearts and minds before God. When life feels overwhelming, being still allows us to remember that we are not in control—God is. In the stillness, we can sense His presence, hear His voice, and experience His peace.
As a family, think about how a fast-paced life can sometimes pull you away from God and each other. When we’re always on the go, it’s easy to miss the moments that matter most—time with God, meaningful conversations, and simple joys.
Discuss how you’re going to take some time this week to “be still”.
Share one thing you are grateful for and one way you’ve seen God at work.
Remember, the stillness isn’t about checking off a task—it’s about opening your heart to God’s presence. Just as you might prepare your home for a guest, preparing your heart allows you to meet with Him in a deeper and more meaningful way.
Spend a few moments in silent prayer, asking God to help prepare your heart to be ready to worship Him at church tomorrow morning.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of stillness. In a world that moves so fast, we are grateful for this time to pause, breathe, and acknowledge Your presence. As we close this Sabbath, we thank You for reminding us to slow down, be still, and truly connect with You and each other. May we always remember that You are God, and in Your presence, we find true rest and connection. In Jesus' name, amen.
