The Gift Of Time

WEEK 1

SCRIPTURE

Genesis 2:1-3
“So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.”

DEVOTIONAL

In this passage, we see something profound: after six days of creative, world-shaping work, God rested. Not because He was tired—God doesn’t grow weary—but to establish a pattern for us, His creation. His rest was intentional, a holy pause to delight in the goodness of what He had made.
As a family, consider why rest is such an integral part of God’s design. In our busy lives, we often feel like there’s too much to do and not enough time. But God’s example reminds us that rest isn’t wasted time—it’s a gift and a necessity. Rest refocuses us on what matters most, allows us to recharge, and gives us perspective.
God has given us enough time to accomplish what truly needs to be done. This means trusting Him to guide our priorities and letting go of the things that don’t align with His plans for us. When we honor the rhythm of work and rest that God has established, we experience His peace and provision.
TAKE A MOMENT TO REFLECT & DISCUSS:
  • What does rest look like in your family’s life?
  • Are there ways to better trust God with your time and priorities?
  • How can your family embrace a holy pause this week to rest and delight in God’s goodness?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of time and the reminder that You provide everything we need. Help us to use our time wisely and to prioritize what truly matters. Teach us to rest in Your presence and find peace in Your timing. Amen.
